Summer is in full swing, and life looks like its returning to normal! As more restrictions are lifted, slowly but surely, we will put this pandemic behind us and get back to living. In the meantime, if you are planning to buy your next home, now is the time to do so. The market has overall seen a surge in inventory and a decline in prices. The bidding wars and madness we saw earlier this year are not as prominent and there are a lot more townhouses listed in the suburbs to meet demand. I predict it will get busy again in the fall and prices may go up again. Start the process today, contact me to get started!
Things to Do This Summer
The summer months in Ottawa can get extremely hot with temperatures in the mid 30’s. Here are some ideas to have some summer fun without having to travel too far.
Sandbanks Beach – Located approximately 2.5 hours from Ottawa, this is a hot spot for beach goers in the summer. The water is a light blue, exceptionally clean and easy to access. It can get busy here so be sure to buy a day pass online and, on the Sandbanks, Provincial Park site – this will save you a parking spot upon entry.
Prince Edward County - A great place for a weekend trip with over 35 wineries in the area and several shops, restaurants and more. The 3 main areas are Picton, Bloomfield and Wellington. The June Motel, The Drake Devonshire Inn and The Lake Side Motel are some of the trendier places to stay or you can get a waterfront cottage. Flame and Smith located in Bloomfield is a popular spot to dine as well as Midtown Brewing Co. in Wellington. There is no shortage of great places to eat! Sandbanks Beach is a short drive away as well.
Calypso Water Park – The best way to beat the heat! A 30-minute drive outside of Ottawa, this water park is all fun and games! They have several water slides - Summit Tower, Turbulence, Aqualoops and many more. If you’re like me and want something easy going you will enjoy the slow-moving Kongo Expedition. Family friendly and loads of fun, you will find yourself going back often!
Drive-in Movie – Watch a movie outside on a jumbo screen from the comfort of your own vehicle. Located at 300 Coventry in the East End or 401 Corkstown Road in the West End, check out their website to see movie times and dates https://www.thedriveinottawa.ca/movies . Tickets are bought online, and you can bring your own snacks.
